Help For Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is the most common cause of referrals to gastroenterologists, accounting for up to 50% of the referral patients, according to Dr. Andre Kulisz, PhD, ND.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a chronic condition characterized by abdominal pain associated with bowel dysfunction and occurs in about 15% of the adult population.  Crohn’s Disease (CD) is a disorder of unknown cause characterized by inflammation of the gut wall.

These two conditions IBS and CD are very poorly defined and poorly managed health problems having to do with the GI (gastrointestinal) tract.  According to Dr. Kulisz, these are among the most common origins of nutritional deficiency, depression, and poor immunity.  Allopathic medicine has very limited means of controlling the problem and almost none to cure them.

The symptoms of both conditions are very similar with Crohn’s being a more severe form of IBS.  These symptoms include:

  • intestinal cramps
  • constipation
  • diarrhea
  • constant general deterioration of health
  • bloating
  • passage of mucous in the stool
  • flatulence (gas)

A diagnosis of IBS is usually made after symptoms have persisted 3 or more months.
